Newport Plum is a stunning deciduous flowering tree with a spreading rounded crown known for its spring display and deep purple foliage. The soft white to pale pink flowers bloom shortly before the foliage emerges. The new growth begins as a light bronze and matures to deep purple by summer, and earn red tones by fall. After the flowers, the tree may produce small, cherry-like purple fruits that blend with the foliage and are not commonly consumed. Grows best in full sun and rich well-drained soils.
